How to Connect EasyAccessPDF to Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop or Codex via MCP

July 18, 2026 · 4 min read · EasyAccessPDF Team

Quick answer: subscribe to MCP Membership ($19.90/month), create a WordPress application password, then add the EasyAccessPDF server URL (https://easyaccesspdf.com/wp-json/easy/v1/mcp) with an Authorization: Basic header to your AI client. Full configs for Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop and Codex below.

What does the EasyAccessPDF MCP server give your AI client?

Five tools your AI client can call natively — all included with membership, no per-call credits:

ToolWhat it does
eap_convert_to_markdownConvert a document URL (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML, EPUB, RTF, ODT, TXT) to clean Markdown
eap_export_pdfExport a PDF to structured JSON, semantic HTML, plain text or an annotated PDF
eap_check_pdfveraPDF PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1) accessibility audit: pages, grade (A/B/C/F), issue list, tag coverage
eap_fix_pdfAuto-fix a PDF: metadata injection, auto-tagging, re-audit — returns a 24h zip (tagged PDF + report + checklist)
eap_get_account_statusRead your plan, membership expiry and credit balance

Step 1 — Subscribe to MCP Membership

Open the MCP Membership page and subscribe ($19.90). Each purchase adds 32 days of membership, stacking — there is no auto-renewal and no hidden fees. Membership ties to your EasyAccessPDF account email and activates within minutes of payment. You can watch the exact expiry date in My Account.

Step 2 — Create your MCP credential (application password)

MCP authenticates with a WordPress application password — not your API key, and not your login password:

  1. Log in and open Profile → Application Passwords.
  2. Type a name you'll recognize, e.g. claude-code, and click Add New Application Password.
  3. Copy the password shown in the green box. WordPress will never show it again.

Then build the Basic-auth token — your account email, a colon, and the application password, base64-encoded:

printf '[email protected]:xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx' | base64

The output is your <BASE64> token for every client config below.

Step 3A — Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http easyaccesspdf
  https://easyaccesspdf.com/wp-json/easy/v1/mcp
  --header "Authorization: Basic <BASE64>"

Verify with claude mcp list — easyaccesspdf should appear with 5 tools.

Step 3B — Cursor

Open Settings → MCP → Add server and paste:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "easyaccesspdf": {
      "url": "https://easyaccesspdf.com/wp-json/easy/v1/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Basic <BASE64>"
      }
    }
  }
}

Save and restart Cursor. The tool list should show the five eap_* tools.

Step 3C — Claude Desktop

Edit claude_desktop_config.json (macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/, Windows: %APPDATA%Claude) with the same JSON block as Cursor above, save, then restart Claude Desktop.

Step 3D — Codex (OpenAI CLI)

Register the server:

codex mcp add easyaccesspdf
  --url https://easyaccesspdf.com/wp-json/easy/v1/mcp

Then add the auth header in ~/.codex/config.toml:

[mcp_servers.easyaccesspdf]
url = "https://easyaccesspdf.com/wp-json/easy/v1/mcp"
http_headers = { "Authorization" = "Basic <BASE64>" }

Verify with codex mcp list.

Try these prompts once connected

  • “Check this PDF for accessibility: https://example.com/report.pdf” — returns the veraPDF grade and issue list.
  • “Fix this PDF and give me the download link: …” — returns a 24h zip with the tagged PDF, report and checklist.
  • “Convert this PDF to Markdown: …” — or JSON / HTML / text / annotated PDF via eap_export_pdf.
  • “What's my EasyAccessPDF membership status?” — plan, expiry and credit balance.

FAQ

Does the membership renew automatically?

No. Each purchase adds 32 days, stacking. Extend any time from My Account — no auto-renewal, no surprise charges.

Do checks and fixes cost credits on top of membership?

No. Every MCP tool is included: unlimited checks, unlimited fixes, unlimited conversions. Credits exist only for pay-per-use API/extension access without a membership, and they never expire.

Which AI clients are supported?

Any client that speaks MCP over streamable HTTP — Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop, Codex and others. The MCP page always has the current configs.

How do I revoke a client's access?

Delete the application password in Profile → Application Passwords. That client loses access immediately; other clients keep working.

What is the API key for, then?

The API key (in My Account) authenticates the Chrome extension and custom scripts. With an active membership, those calls skip credit charges too.
