What is veraPDF?
veraPDF is the open-source, industry-reference validator for the PDF/A (archival) and PDF/UA (accessibility) ISO standards, maintained by the Open Preservation Foundation together with the PDF Association. It is the validator that archives, governments, and accessibility auditors trust: when a compliance report says “validated against PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1)”, veraPDF is usually the engine that produced it.
EasyAccessPDF runs that same veraPDF engine on our servers and exposes it as a web tool — so you get the identical rule-by-rule validation output without touching an installer.
Why people search for “veraPDF online”
The official veraPDF is a desktop application. That is exactly right for archives running offline batch jobs — and friction for everyone else:
- Downloading and installing a desktop app (plus keeping a Java runtime happy) for a one-off check
- A command-line interface with profile and flag syntax to learn
- No way to validate from a Chromebook, a locked-down work laptop, or a phone
If you do need the desktop build — for air-gapped environments or very large batch jobs — get the official veraPDF download from verapdf.org. For everything else, the online version below is faster.

What the report tells you
Every check runs the full PDF/UA-1 profile — the machine-checkable requirements behind WCAG 2.1 AA document compliance and the ADA Title II deadlines:
- Tag tree and document structure — what screen readers actually receive
- Document title, language, and the “tagged PDF” flag
- Figure tagging and alternative text presence
- Reading order, table headers, list structure
- Form field labels and annotation structure
Failures come back as a rule-by-rule list with the exact ISO clause for each one — the same output auditors work from.
From validation to remediation
Validation tells you what is broken. If you also need it fixed, EasyAccessPDF auto-remediation rebuilds the tag tree, metadata, reading order, and figure tagging programmatically — then re-validates with veraPDF and ships the report as evidence. Flat $2.99 per document, about 60 seconds, or unlimited with membership for whole document libraries. An MCP server lets AI agents validate and fix entire folders.

Frequently asked questions
What is veraPDF?
VeraPDF is the open-source reference validator for the PDF/A and PDF/UA ISO standards, maintained by the Open Preservation Foundation and the PDF Association. It checks a PDF against every machine-testable rule of the standard and reports each pass and failure with its ISO clause.
Is this the same as the veraPDF download?
Same engine, different packaging. The desktop application from verapdf.org is free and open source and is the right choice for offline batch work. This online version runs the identical validation engine in your browser with nothing to install.
Is veraPDF online free?
Yes — three validation checks are free with no account. For higher volume, membership covers unlimited conversions and MCP access, and auto-remediation is a flat $2.99 per document.
Does it validate PDF/A (archival) too?
This online checker focuses on PDF/UA-1 accessibility validation — the standard behind ADA, Section 508, and EAA document compliance. For PDF/A archival profiles, use the desktop veraPDF.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
Files are processed in memory on our EU servers and deleted after validation. Nothing is retained, shared, or used for training.
